AI Cameras and Speakers: How Finland Strengthens Its Border with Russia.

Finland to Build a New Fence on the Border with Russia
According to Antti Virta, Deputy Commander of the Southeast Border Guard of Finland, the construction of a fence on the border with Russia between Vaalimaa and Parikkala is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Another 35 kilometers of fencing has already been erected, and border guards have begun using artificial intelligence.
'These cameras have learned to distinguish between people and animals. Therefore, animals near the border do not trigger alarms,' specified Lieutenant Colonel Esa Veikkanen.
The new fence will be equipped with cameras that operate both day and night, as well as a loudspeaker system for instructing people if necessary. It is also worth noting that the fence has been made a meter higher and stronger, complicating penetration.
On Finland's southeastern border, 140 kilometers of fencing is planned, and work is already underway at 17 different sites in the southeastern part of the country.
