NYT: Biden allowed the use of long-range weapons for strikes against Russia.

U.S. President Joe Biden, before the end of his term, granted permission to Ukrainian military forces to use long-range Atacms missiles for strikes against Russia. According to the New York Times, the weapon will be used against Russian and North Korean troops in the Kursk region.
The decision to allow the use of Atacms tactical missile systems was a response to Russia's involvement of North Korean troops in the war against Ukraine. Previously, Biden had allowed the use of Himars artillery for strikes against Russian forces. However, Atacms, which have a longer range, had been prohibited before.
American officials stated that this decision would not change the situation in Russia, but would serve as a warning to North Korea. They also expressed some concern that these strikes could provoke Putin to use force against the U.S. and its allies.
Earlier, the U.S. Secretary of Defense rejected the Ukrainian president's request for Atacms supplies. U.S. intelligence also expressed the view that this could cause more problems for Ukraine than advantages.
