About 50 fans of the Italian club Lazio were detained by German police in Hamburg yesterday. They were detained before the Europa League match against Kyiv's Dynamo, which will take place today.
The fans were armed with knives, rails, and hammers. The police noticed a group of people in dark clothing and tried to apprehend them, but they were detained. As a result, Lazio fans were banned from attending the match.
The meeting between Dynamo and Lazio will take place today at 22:00 at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg. This match will open the new European cup season for the Kyiv club.
This season, the Europa League has changed its competition format. With the participation of 36 teams, they will play against eight different opponents, and the results will be counted in the overall standings. The top eight teams will advance to the next round without additional matches, while another 16 teams will compete in the playoffs.
