The issue of 'sleeping' licenses for subsurface resources could be resolved thanks to American investments - geologists.

Agreement on the American-Ukrainian Investment Reconstruction Fund: hope for the geological exploration sector
The President of the Public Organization 'Union of Geologists of Ukraine' Pavlo Zahorodnyuk expressed hope for real investments in the field of geological exploration and subsoil use thanks to the signing of the Agreement on the American-Ukrainian Investment Reconstruction Fund.
According to the expert, Ukraine has discovered 20,000 mineral deposits, but only 3,500 are actively developed. Most deposits remain unused due to 'sleeping' licenses, which creates serious problems for the sector.
'It is very important that a 'resource' agreement has been signed with the United States. Because at least there is some hope that real investments will come to geological exploration and subsoil use,' - emphasized Pavlo Zahorodnyuk.
Ukrhazvydobuvannia of Naftogaz of Ukraine is the only enterprise that is seriously engaged in geological exploration at the present Time. The arrival of American investors and advanced global technologies could improve the situation in the sector and ensure the employment of Ukrainian specialists, many of whom have already left the country due to migration.
Analysis
The signing of the Agreement on the American-Ukrainian Investment Reconstruction Fund is a step towards risk management and supporting the stability of the geological exploration sector in Ukraine. This can stimulate development and attract new investments, which in turn will lead to improved efficiency in the extraction of mineral resources and increased production.
