Car insurance in Ukraine: drivers told how much the cheapest will cost in 2025.

As of January 1, 2025, a law on mandatory insurance of civil liability for vehicle owners came into force in Ukraine. The cost of insurance now depends on competition among insurance companies and their financial risks.
According to the new law, the amount of compensation for car repairs will increase to 250,000 hryvnias, and for the treatment of victims of road accidents - to 500,000 hryvnias. In addition, the franchise has been canceled, so the insurance company will fully compensate losses without deducting money from the perpetrator of the accident. Persons with disabilities and combatants receive a 50% discount on the cost of the car insurance policy. The compensation procedure has also changed; now the insurance covers repairs without accounting for depreciation, and the company can directly pay for the repair at an official service center.
Moreover, starting in 2025, a monitoring system for mandatory insurance through surveillance cameras has been introduced. The number of fines for drivers without insurance may be unlimited.
The cheapest insurance policy for a passenger car with an engine capacity of up to 1600 cm³, registered in Kyiv, is offered by the company 'Etalon' for 4,173 UAH per year. INGO, the European Insurance Alliance, and TAS Insurance Group also offer affordable policies, while the most expensive insurance is offered by Uniqa for 5,434 UAH.
However, when choosing insurance, it is important not only to focus on price but also on the payment timelines. According to MTIBU, VUSO can pay compensation within 30 days, INGO - within 65 days, and the company 'Etalon' - within 110 days.
In case the cost of damages exceeds the established limits, insurance companies offer an additional voluntary civil liability insurance policy.
