Technical inspection only under cameras: what will change for drivers from July 1.

According to information from 'Hvylya', the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is making changes to the deadlines for the introduction of new rules for the technical inspection of vehicles. Starting from July 1, 2025, technical control stations will be required to install two stationary cameras for video recording the vehicle inspection during technical inspection. If video recording is not possible, the inspection will simply not be carried out.

Two stationary cameras will be installed at technical control stations, which will record the vehicle inspection process. If video recording is not possible for some reason, the technical inspection will not be conducted.

The updated rules require high-quality video recording of cars and compliance with other technical recording requirements. The video materials from the technical inspection will be stored for as long as the technical inspection certificate is valid, to prevent unauthorized access and abuse. These innovations are aimed at increasing transparency and trust in the vehicle technical inspection process in Ukraine.

Operational transport currently undergoing technical inspection

Currently, mandatory technical inspections based on certain criteria are only conducted for some types of vehicles, such as trucks, buses for passenger transport, and taxis.

• Special transport, such as school buses and emergency service vehicles, are also subject to mandatory technical inspection.

Changes in the technical inspection rules in Ukraine are aimed at improving the vehicle inspection procedure and ensuring greater transparency. Mandatory video recording of the inspection and storage of video materials while the technical inspection certificate is valid should make the process more controlled and reliable for all participants.
