The State Employment Service explained whether farmers can register as unemployed.

Farmers and registration as unemployed
With the onset of the spring season, employees of the State Employment Service 'hotline' received many questions regarding the possibility for farmers to register as unemployed.
Representatives of the agency explained that when registering as unemployed in the employment center, the person must submit an application according to the established sample, where they need to indicate information about their farming activities.
'According to current legislation, farming encompasses citizens who intend to produce agricultural products, process and sell products for profit. This applies to enterprises operating on land owned or held in use, including leased land, for conducting farming, agricultural production, or personal peasant farming.'
If a person who applies to the employment center is a member of a farm, they cannot be registered as unemployed. This applies to all family members of the household, including parents, children aged 14 and older, and other relatives who have joined together for joint farming.
A farm can be family-owned and is subject to registration as a legal entity or an individual entrepreneur, the State Employment Service added.
The rapid advancement in rural areas and the active development of farms compel the authorities to consider new aspects of registering farmers as unemployed. The tense situation in the labor market requires a detailed study of such issues to ensure a fair and equitable registration system.
