The Ministry of Education announced when the new academic year will begin in schools and universities.

The new academic year will begin on September 2
The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine announced when the new academic year will begin. According to the Cabinet of Ministers' decree, schooling will start on September 2, 2024, and end on June 30, 2025.
Schools can independently decide on the duration of the academic year and holidays, taking into account the law of Ukraine "On Complete General Secondary Education". The law stipulates that the total number of calendar days of holidays in schools during the year should be at least 30.
In addition, schools are able to establish the structure of the school week and decide whether to hold classes on Saturdays. They can also choose forms of organizing the educational process with safety considerations in mind.
Universities also independently determine the start and duration of the academic year. Despite the recommendation of the Ministry of Education and Science to begin classes in August and have long holidays in the fall and winter, they also start classes in September.
Vocational education institutions also plan to start classes in September. The Ministry advises them to be flexible in organizing the educational process based on safety and energy supply issues, including holding classes on Saturdays. Decisions regarding the form of education may be made by local administrations.
