Ukrainians explained using the example of Europe how pseudoreforms affect water tariffs.

Oleg Popenko, head of the Association of Consumers of Utility Services of Ukraine, analyzed the possible consequences of the decentralization of Poltavvodokanal. According to him, the breakup of territorial communities with the regional enterprise could lead to catastrophic increases in tariffs for 300,000 residents of the region.
Currently, residents of Poltavvodokanal pay 36 hryvnias for water supply and sewerage. However, with decentralization, these figures may change dramatically. According to Popenko, service costs will rise by 2 to 5 times depending on the community.
We will meet such numbers: 62 hryvnias for the Dykanivka settlement community, 223 hryvnias for the Shyshaky, 116 hryvnias for the Karlivka, 140 hryvnias for the Mashivka, and so on
Popenko cites the European experience, where the consolidation of water utilities led to reduced administrative costs and lower tariffs. Since the Poltava water utility services 12 territorial communities, decentralization may significantly impact the residents of the region.

This rise in prices for water supply and sewerage services may seriously impact citizens' budgets and become a heavy burden for 300,000 residents of Poltava region.
The analysis of the consequences of decentralization of Poltavvodokanal shows that the breakup of territorial communities with the regional enterprise could lead to significant tariff increases for residents of the region.
