Usyk congratulated Ukrainians on Christmas on January 7.


Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk sent greetings for Christmas to his fellow countrymen. He published a post on his Instagram where he wrote: 'Merry Christmas. Christ is born, glorify Him'.
Starting from 2023, Christian religious holidays in Ukraine are celebrated according to the new calendar. Christmas has been moved to December 25 instead of January 7. Other holidays, such as the Protection of the Mother of God, Epiphany, and St. Nicholas Day, have also shifted in Time.
The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate still celebrates Christmas in January.
Usyk was named the best boxer of 2024 according to BoxingScene. He achieved absolute world championship in the heavyweight division by defeating Tyson Fury twice. In the December fight, Usyk won with a score of 116:112 by unanimous decision and defended the WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBO titles.
Usyk dedicated his victory to his mother and all mothers of Ukraine. He also stated his plans to continue his career after the bout with Fury.
Tyson Fury again accused the judges of an unfair decision regarding Usyk's victory.
