Ukrainian Drivers in Germany Given Time Until October 1: Fines from 70 Euros and Car Confiscation.

Germany Introduces New Rules for Cars of Ukrainian Refugees
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has announced the introduction of new rules for cars of Ukrainian refugees living in Germany. According to these rules, Ukrainian drivers residing in Germany for more than a year are required to register their cars in the German system by October 1. This information was disclosed by Ukraine's ambassador to Germany, Oleksii Makeiev, on his Facebook page.
According to these new rules, refugees are required to officially register their cars in Germany. However, the participation of a vehicle with foreign registration in road traffic without its re-registration by German authorities and without changing the plates cannot exceed one year.
So, we have arrived. And from October 1, we will have to continue on the national road - with German registration... That is, if you left Ukraine, say, in the summer of 2024, then no one will take away your year of "international travel." And your re-registration deadline will be in the summer of 2025 - explained Makeiev.
It was noted that these new rules will only apply to those who are in Germany under temporary protection status. Ukrainian refugees do not need to deregister their cars in Ukraine. They can keep them in the Ukrainian registration base of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and are not subject to customs taxation. Thus, the cars will be in the customs regime of "temporary export" and will have the right to re-enter Ukraine, the ambassador of Ukraine reported.
